I just wanted to say thanks for actually posting your very old art. Obviously from your tags you aren't exactly proud of it but it does help us newbs who are just starting out and feel we're not heading anywhere. I now know that I can actually get better even if it takes 5 or 6 years or longer. Thanks.

Wow, I didn’t think about that. You’re very welcome! I’m glad I could actually help someone out. I hate to look at my old art, but yet I love it, because it’s amazing how much we improve without even knowing it. Just looking a year back is surprising to me.

I’ll just tell you this: it’s never too late. I’ve heard of people who think that they are too old to start taking art seriously - and I can prove you wrong. I’ve met amazing artists who started when they were much older.

But anyway, never give up. Always practice, always do art. You might not like it now, you might not think you’re going anywhere, but trust me, you are! It takes a while to notice improvement. And sometimes you just get art blocked: that’s just your brain trying to say: “Hey, learn me something new! Try new things!”

New things doesn’t always look great at first. But with practice you’ll get there. I’m nowhere perfect now but I know - if I keep fighting, I’ll keep getting better.

The elements of improving: Learn to take critique, have FUN with your art, draw outside the lines, have patience, draw often, challenge yourself, LET yourself make mistakes!

Which reminds me, I have to practice more at backgrounds.
